phreak me please..

I am getting a little bored, that’s why I am here, blogging at this hour.. I was supposed to be out now with Pinky, but her manager called her up this morning to ask her to go back because there are too many people on leave today, and ofcourse he has to pay Pinky OT..

Poor me, nothing to do.. actually I got plenty of things to do, I just want to complain my life here.. Seems like nothing is fair, I have been thinking of devsync’s project but my friends has totally no idea or the commitment to do things or even just to think about the things we can do. I guess we could only be friends, schoolmates, crapsters or anything but not working together. Actually, I got no idea whether devsync should carry-on as it is.. I think, its either it end it up like nothing happened, or do something like I never did before.

Talking about that, I received my ImagineCup’s questionaire for the semi-final.. its 41pages long, and its due by 31st April and I have not started anything on it.

Ubuntu – Linux for Human Beings

Its another day in the WSS lab, and I have the urge to download new Linux distributions to try out, anyway there are many harddisk in my lab and I am free to experiment it all by myself.. I downloaded Gentoo, Slackware and Ubuntu but I couldn’t burn Gentoo due to the limited storage size of my CD-R media, but I managed to burn Slackware and Ubuntu – Linux for human beings. I was attracted by the screenshot at 1 of the website I was searching for some Linux information.. The installation took some time and I didn’t like the text-based bootup.. However, when I was using the OS, the GUI was excellent; there’s no lag unlike Fedora Core which you might have to wait for alittle while (maybe 0.3s), still it meant lag and slow to me. It is frustrating to use Fedora Core’s GUI but this Ubuntu’s GUI is like windows, smooth and fast! Anyway here’s a screenshot of the desktop and the Konversation (irc client)

I wasn’t able to install Slackware and Gentoo and Fedora Core 3 at the moment, next time I go back my lab I would try again.

Huang Fei Hung, Myth or Legend?

Just watched finished Huang Fei Hung on Channel 8.. This movie is pretty old, I guess I might have watched it once every 2 years? But it’s not like any other chinese movies, whereby I would just watch and forget it.. This show will stay in my mind for the next 2months I guess.. why? Because I feel that Chinese people at that time are pretty poor thing, there were slave trade, many secret societies, accepting the exposure towards the western style and inhale opium, force prostitution and many allow several wifes.. I can ask you, what was woman to man at that point of time? A sex toy? A servant? I don’t know, I would probably say man at the time don’t respect woman and woman were very timid.. And I think that’s how people targetted China during World War 2.. the chinese are always fighting with one another, that’s why a Taiwan came out from the blue..

Anyway, I asked myself.. Is Huang Fei Hung a myth or a Legend? Facts I won’t be able to find online, because many of them are based on the movies -_- I hate them. I don’t really bother now, I would say I believed that there is such a person before, a kind soul who helps people for free who is a martial-arts expert. I like him, as a Hero.

Anyway, he said something which is very true and I will always remember it in my heart.. "1 mountain is taller than another 1", which means there will always be people who are better than the good ones.. you might be good but there must be someone out there better than you.. Keep that in mind!

Exam results released.. GPA maintained =/

Yeap, exam results is released today.. Was expecting better grades, because I have to increase my GPA.. yet it maintained. Many people complained about their GPA decreased, but they are still above me and they still don’t seem to know that they are very safe! damn them.. below are the grades I got:

Basic Financial Accounting B+
Internetworking B
Technopreneurship and Enterprise B+
Infocomm Technology Z
Internet Appliances A
Enterprise Database Design B
Wireless Technology B

You would probably say that my results are in good shape.. I must agree, that’s why I am able to maintain my GPA which many of them couldn’t.. I was expecting my EDD, networking wireless to get an "A" as well.. disappointing! Apparently all those I really wanted to do well only got a "B".. suck it!

2 Great goals, 1 conclusion

Come to think of it, its a pretty long time ever since I played soccer.. I guess the last time I played was when I was secondary 3, in Pasir Ris void deck and trying to avoid police checks most of the time, but we did enjoyed ourselves back then.. precious memories..

So, Sheldon aka RaVioN asked me out for a football game and asked Min Wee along also, so we met up at 5pm at the bus stop, ready to kick Sheldon’s friend ass and then, we saw 18 of them on a field.. ITS 18 !! GOD DAMN IT how are you going to play! It’s so hard to touch the ball, not to say how to score!

Lady luck was with us, we met some friends from IFC and decided to join them for a game.. we did enjoy ourselves.. Sheldon and Min Wee can’t believe I could score 2 and the goal post is so small Sheldon pushes the blame to it, but I know its because he lack of the perfect moment.. actually, I amazed myself too.. I was always a good defender, but this has got nothing to do with striker -_-.. they said I was lucky, I said maybe I trained for a striker but I always wanted to be the defender.. why? Because every role is so important in a game! You can’t let everybody be the striker, if not who’s going to help the goalkeeper to keep the ball away? Seems like everyone who likes football wants to be a striker, just for fame? David Beckham could even score when he’s just a midfielder! You don’t need to be a striker to score, you need the right time at the right place!

Conclusion: Every role in a game is important, don’t under-estimate!

i.HUB CS Competition 2005

Well.. The event’s finally over, I am lazy to type out how I felt for this event but below’s a report I submitted:Report on i.HUB Counter-Strike 1.6 competitionThe event was held at @Corner lan shop in Goldhill Plaza, on Monday 4th April 2005 1030am. The event was held there because TP did not allow us to borrow their PCs due to some licensing issues of the game and their PCs have irregular system specifications which makes it unfair for a competition. Nevertheless, the event was quite popular and attracted 6 teams which registered for this event, and they are quite punctual for the event. For the past few weeks, I have been working with Cman (a representative of @Corner lanshop) to ensure that the event will be smooth and successful. The flow of this event has been seriously planned by me to ensure the results desired. There were times when I needed help, Cman wasn’t available until the last minute and that’s why we had additional rules and changed the maps of the event at the very last minute. This is too much of a sudden because some teams might have already been training up the past few weeks for the map assigned and it’s quite unfair. It would have been better if he had introduced to me his other colleagues so that when he’s unavailable, I could find them for assistance. As for Kim, due to his limited knowledge about this game, I can’t approach him for help.It has been my pleasure to organize this event, and I find it enjoyable although it has stressed me for sometime last year when I had to find the license agreement and borrow the PCs for this event. I was rather sad when the proposal was being rejected after several attempts and the thoughts of organizing this event slowly vanish from my head until I learnt that we can organize it outside of TP, the idea just came back and I finally got a chance to organize it. I am sorry to say that the judges didn’t really do their job that day to tell the players off for breaking the rules, and they were enjoying themselves, or maybe I shouldn’t invite too much judges. I hope that if such event comes again, they would pay more attention to their job.I must say that I am very pleased with the flow of the event though I had to make last minute decisions, and I am very thankful to all officials, judges and the players that day for being co-operative and understanding. All the participants enjoyed themselves that day and I look forward to organize such competition again.I felt stressfree now, for the moment =), and heard that this week we will be receiving our exam results, we shall see!
