Took part in the Canon photomarathon yesterday and it was definitely a fun and learning experience on photography! The photomarathon was hosted at Suntec City Convention Hall, starting from 7am as registration till 9.30pm prize giving ceremony. The themes were released at 9am, 1.30pm and 4.30pm and the themes were ‘change’, ‘dreams’ & ‘freedom’ respectively. We had a very long walk today, from Suntec to Esplanade, to Clarke Quay, to Suntec again, to Fort Canning, to Suntec, to Bugis, and it was physically taxing for us! And unexpectedly, we bumped into 2 of my ex-camp mates, thus we sticked together for the shots! Here’s some images that I’ve taken during the exercise:
The following are my humble entries into the respective themes:
Change in weather (i.e. the sun), and not just that, change in a person’s character through shadow (reflection) but I know it doesn’t show that meaning, gees. Alot more to learn!
The only gantry that’s reducing the heavy traffic in singapore; the ERP! FREEDOM!
And I can’t find the picture that I have submitted for dreams.. hmm… maybe I’ve forgotten what I submitted! =( Anyway this competition taught me that there’s really good ways to illustrate the above themes and if possible, have a studio and model nearby in case so that you can use them for your theme! Kudos to those people who actually went all the way to Changi Airport to get their shots but distance isn’t the winning factor and neither is the equipment (yes im procrastinating, no need ‘L’ lens for this kinda competition since PNS also can take part!).. And great, we don’t even know who’s the judges behind the doors, thus we don’t know what kind of shots they’re expecting from us!
I think its not the quality that the judges are looking for, its Creativity with highest priority, then composition, then quality! Photography competition is like this!
And a random shot of us by another photographer named Samantha in Bugis,
