Pinkys 21st Birthday Party

Jan
4

I wanted to make her 21st the most memorable birthday celebration for her. Afterall, been 21st is really a huge milestone in one’s life as there will be alot of changes in life to face in time to come.

Being with her for the past 3years to come, we know each other pretty well and our relationship almost maintained still, in ‘honeymoon’ period, which means still sweet. Quarrels are inevitable because of our stubbornness and willfulness, but this did not set us apart and yet made our relationship stronger, bonded. It may seem that we are still a pair of fresh couple living in our honeymoon world but no.

Even before her birthday, the preparation started with me was also tiring. Imagine SMSing 80people and asking them to RSVP for the party when 70% of them did not reply the message. (ok my bad for not mentioning my name and the time of the party) but they could ask me while RSVPing! I also took an off-day to go spotlight to buy the necessary items to decorate her guestbook which costs me $80 and $25 for her printed photos for the use on the guestbook! It took me 8hours to prepare her guestbook, excluding 3hours standing like a scarecrow in Spotlight at Plaza Singapura.

Had an entire busy day for her birthday; went out in the afternoon with her mum to buy extra food just incase her buffet food was not enough. Then went to check in at Aranda Chalet, unloaded all the required items from my van such as 30stools, 2 foldable tables, food and drinks. Then while resting, I waited for the decoration team people to decorate her room with 100 HElium balloons and 42 will be used for clusterings. The balloons clusters are used to decorate the room at a lower level so that not all the balloons are high up. It is also nicer to take photos with the balloon clusters. I thought that 100balloons were too exaggerating but no, it wasn’t even filling up 1/5 of the living room, that how small 100 balloons cover.

Her relatives were kind to come in early at about 5pm to ask if I needed help for the party but I reckoned there wasn’t much things left to do in the first place, so they went off to E!hub with their kids to play.

Guests started to come in at around 7pm, earlier than expected (7.30pm) , while the food buffet was still been setup. It wasn’t that bad, guests who came earlier gets to eat first of course. Waited until about 8.30pm when most of the guests are in the room and even some outside her room. 1 of a biggest personal event I ever organised with an estimated turnout rate of at least 80 guests.

Getting her guestbook signed wasnt easy. I initially left it on the table near the entrance but someone moved it to the dining table and many people wasn’t aware of that, so I passed the book to Pinky so that when she was moving around chatting with her friends she could ask them to sign the book as well.

Personally, I also prepared the Chocolate Fondue fountain which I had bought for her as her christmas present 2009. Placed marshmallows, strawberries, kiwis, bananas and waffle biscuits for the guest and I’m so glad that they loved it.

Everything starts wrapping up after she was invited to cut her cake at 10pm because it was getting late and many people are leaving. Her $150 3KG 3D custom Gucci cake by Pine Gardens made the guests go ‘WOW!’, thats 1 of a expensive cake they have ever eaten, too, I believe.

Goodbye JCRC, Hello CEC

Sep
28

This is probably the last 21st JCRC photo ever.  I wonder if we will be in the group again but it really looks like we’re not going to.  SOBZ..

(Im the only one with orange hair now.)  Full of reluctance to give my position away to the new committee but as the Chinese saying goes, ‘without the old ones going off, the new ones can’t go in‘.  The reasons why I choose not to be elected again because I find that the commitment for the club is really over demanding.  Staying back in Hall during holidays was fun but at same time, its more of a wasting time.  Designing for 3newsletters and 1 Magazine, helping some committees to take their photos for free and etc.  All these COSTS.  I have got 5years of Publicity and Publication Experience ever since Polytechnic year 1.  I know my skills are overrated for this position already and I should move on to something more challenging.  Another bad thing is that the freshmen this year seems very sporty and enthusiastic.  I’ve a huge age barrier with them, thus I decided to join the school club, CEC with my clique of buddies.

(our grooming done at bugis)  Oh, the makeup artist wacked on my face tanned foundation, really TANNED.  NB.  Make me look so dark!  Anyway, my decision for joining CEC was because it is a new role and it requires more communication skill!  Now I have a sub-committee of 5members and I hope they would work well under me =)

Reminiscencing

Sep

I visit upon my alma mater facebook fan page and came upon this video someone uploaded on his youtube:

Watching the video really made me teared.  This is a sort of farewell video done by my fellow school mates (I supposed?)  And yea, I remember back in 2002 we don’t have a cameraphone yet? Did we?  Else we would have tons of mischievous photos too!

Looking back at the video, I saw myself in that green uniform, a period when I wanted to give up studying so much until my friends encouraged me and pulled me back.  We mugged at late nights striving to do better in N and O levels.  Then got into the Polytechnic, and then some got to the workforce while some continued to study.

I’m really feeling proud, now.

My 24th Birthday Celebrations

Aug
21

My apologies for this very long outdated post.  I was busy with school camps and re-adjusting myself back to school life again after working nonstop for 3months as a freelance PHP/MySQL web developer and web design…

Had to do some photography coverage for an event that day organised by my manager so I was feeling alittle bit down though, doing work on my birthday is really different but I think as the age goes by, birthday is just another working day =(   But baby girl and her colleagues cheered me up by giving me a surprise reservation at Haagen Dazz in Centerpoint.  We had some ice cream and left for another surprise celebration she says.

And thanks to my dearest pinky, she took her precious time to prepare an unforgettable birthday celebration for me again, somehow which I felt it was better than the 1 I had organised 3years ago for my 21st birthday.  As guys, its a hard fact again that we don’t receive much presents but nonetheless, I enjoyed their company!

She created this invitation card to email to my friends Desmond and Sze yuen to ask them to help gather friends for the celebration:

Me and some of my friends:

And guess what?  There were around 5 other August babies celebrating their birthday there too and the band kept playing the happy birthday song to us.. HAHA.

Feeling abit high and since we haven’t gathered together for some time, we decided to drink again at paradize where we shared a bottle of some unknown liquor:

And I seriously LOVE these guys even though we only meet up like once or twice a month.  We are already together for 11years!

And the present I received from Princess:

A $250 watch which caught my attention last month when I was reading FHM.

Another celebration did took place in a chalet with my school orientation camp group named Gambino:

AND NOT TO FORGET, THANKS TO HONGYAO, KENNETH, JOANNE AND RACHEL FOR POPPING BY AT THE CHEESECAKE CAFE IN KATONG IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT TO WISH ME HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Last but not least! My forth Celebration took place with my Hall 5 JCRC committee in Serene’s house while we were having meeting:

IM SO DAMN FUCKING HAPPY.  THE MOST NUMBER OF CELEBRATIONS IN MY LIFE (For now…)  How I wish I could forever stay young =( sobs.

NTU SCE/MSE Orientation Camp 2009 (Cosa Nostra)

Jul
20

I participated in an orientation camp last week as a Senior for the new upcoming students.  I didn’t attend this camp last year because I was still in the army (and I anticipated that engineering camp is boring because of the large number of guys compared to girls!)  but this camp proved that I was wrong!  The committee kept the ratio as equal as possible so that during ‘pairing’ games, no individuals will have to team with the same gender!

Other than been a good Senior during the camp, ofcourse I did bring my DSLR to take photos =)  A total of more than 3000 shutters been snapped and memory card was almost finished but thank god I borrowed from Mr Sunny!  Here are some of the things that we do during the camp!

Day 1:

We played ice-breaking games in Boon Lay bus interchange while waiting for some of the seniors to join our group and await for programmers to settle down in school first!  Then we went to school to continue playing games and then went off for amazing race at 4 – 5PM!  The amazing race took us the whole night and the last station was at Vivocity.  We then took a bus into a resort called ‘City Beach’ to settle down ourselves.  Then the seniors starts to tekan them at around 1am by blinding fold and asking them to say funny and humourous things such as ‘im a good guy!’ and ‘good guy die very badly!’ etc.  Never did they know right after the tekan, they got their SP night!  Playing prank with them and their SP when they’re been blindfolded can be awefully fun and sweet!  We cleared the freshies to bed at about 3am.

Day 2:

An early morning 9am, had breakfast and play some games in the morning at Citybeach..  (CityBeach is in Labrador Park, thus most of our games today was played there! ) Followed by some telematches such as ‘dog and bone’, ‘dodge ball’  and somemore etc.  Cant clearly remember all and there was a water bombing session at night (which turns out to be dreadful because the programmers drag too long and there seem to be personal grudges on the field =( but who am I to say!)  I watched the last episode of Red Thread by hiding myself in the room during the setup of the waterbombs.  The ending was far from what I had thought of.  Very confusing plot even at the end!

Day 3:

Finally got the chance to come out of Labrador Park once again!  We went for ‘Shi zhi lu kou’ (food hunting!) by going to different places in Chinatown and Central shopping mall, ate the food and went to Harbourfront interchange for our last food, Chicken Rice.  Had our lunch and left for Sentosa where I finally bought my new pairs of slippers at $8 and watched the freshies play the games.  Watching them smile and having fun just makes me feel much younger at times =)  Witness several seniors got thrown down into the sea and lucky for me, I told them I was holding to my camera and gadgets so they should not try to throw me!  Went back to Citybeach resort and settled down but room got really alot of people already, don’t know what they are thinking la, how to squeeze 14 seniors into 1 room?  Besides, some of the seniors don’t even interact with the freshies -_-’  More like going there to have their own fun than to help out..

Day 4:

Meet up with their SP.  The guys get tekan to look for their own SP while the girls have wait for their SP to come to them.  They must guess whos the girl with that special ‘nickname’ assigned to them on their first SP night.  Tekan includes different kind of forfeits such as dancing with strangers, singing, strip half naked, etc.  Can have worse than you had imagined but you get the point!  Went to change for their clubbing attire after that,  had buffet dinner catered by the committee (I didnt eat at all!  By the time I reached there, the food all looks so ….)  Nevertheless, I went to drink with an empty stomach! =(

My group was quite good at clubbing with afew good dancers and some drinkers.  Played some games and performed their skit.  Left the place around 12.30am and 1 of the freshie lost her wallet & handphone.  My sympathies for her but there was nothing much we could do either =(  Here comes the funny part:  Joanne drank too much and she got too drunk, she told everyone around her to fuck off and go and die!  LOL!  Unforgettable indeed!

Day 5:

Break camp.  And all of us were so reluctant to leave the place =(

At the end of the day! Our very own ‘where is Matt Harding‘ spoof!

Please take a look at my facebook if you’re looking for more photos/videos, I cant possibly show them all here!

I already miss the camp so much!  I want to go for more!

Thank you for smoking.

Apr
7

Hi smokers.  This post has got some denial against smokers thus if you’re feeling unfair, its meant the way it is.

First of all, yes, Im a social smoker, too.  Like you smokers, I used to smoke when I was in school, with my friends, superiors at work and nightlife.  I used it as a socialising tool like how you guys used facebook in order to have some connection with some friends; I used it as a destressing tool so that I feel better each time the methol goes smoothly into my throat and the sensation of smoking after eating is like peeing immediately after drinking.  Okay, I lied.  I still smoke sometimes and thats why Im called a social smoker.

What has encouraged me to write this post and create more awareness is because everytime I saw young kids out there smoking, thinking the adults did that too and they should do that too and not thinking about the consequences.  Witnessing the older ones smoking outside the shopping centers, I did my personal reflection as to why I should write this post to DISCOURAGE my friends from smoking.  Its just a simple word; HEALTH.  Health is something wealth can’t buy.  Think about this:

  • For you ladies, do you wanna have cervical cancer and cause your vaginal to be rotten or sealed?
  • Flat breast?   Think about your remaining days with your black lungs.
  • Bald head?  Is hat the thing you want to wear until your last breath?
  • Bad breath?  I hate the smokers who sit besides me on train.  those regular smokers stinks to the CORE. HEAR ME!
  • Rather die as a smoker than a passive smoker? think about the neighbourhood that has banned regular smokers.  we’re smokefree in most areas now and we won’t die as a passive smoker if we don’t go near smokers.
  • Do your parents even know about you smoking? aren’t you guilty to reach home in that disgusting cigarette smell even your parents do not question you?  Or you just blame it on some pubs or friends?
  • So you’ve got the moolahs and time, you want to spend on chemotherapying?  why not spend it in message spas and facial salons? Get into some real decent hobby and pay for it!
  • Your lifespan don’t last over 60.  Face it. you’ll never see your grand children grow up!
  • Its an irresponsible behaviour.  Your escape by smoking is an addition to the pain you will suffer in time to come and your family members are the real ones who are affected because they will lose you.

We all know whats right and whats wrong, but whats stopping us?  The Singapore Stress or socialising tool!?  But this is not a reason to smoke, its just an excuse.  Thats for me for smoking and writing an anti-smoking post. *headshot*

Viola, Im going  back to facebooking.

Update: for you ladies, I just saw on wikipedia that the symptons for cervical cancer:

The early stages of cervical cancer may be completely asymptomatic.[1][8] Vaginal bleeding, contact bleeding or (rarely) a vaginal mass may indicate the presence of malignancy. Also, moderate pain during sexual intercourse and vaginal discharge are symptoms of cervical cancer. In advanced disease, metastases may be present in the abdomenlungs or elsewhere.

Symptoms of advanced cervical cancer may include: loss of appetite, weight loss, fatigue, pelvic pain, back pain, leg pain, single swollen leg, heavy bleeding from the vagina, leaking of urine or faeces from the vagina,[9] and bone fractures.

Sounds gross and sick. go PICTURE IT and drill in your heads!

Lose life because of masturbation?

Jan
30

A recent study will have men shaking in their boxers if they choked the chicken a bit too much in their younger years.  Researchers at the University of Nottingham have determined that men who masturbate often in their 20s and 30s are far more prone to developing prostate cancer.  The scientists surveyed 800 men and about half of them had suffered from prostate cancer.  The same data could be attributed to gentlemen that got their mack on frequently with the ladies, but the higher sexual activity was generally credited the act of self-love.  Ironically, men over 40 that jerk-off or shag a lot of babes can reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

Masturbation clearly needs a great publicist to stop this bad press.

Happy Chinese New Year 2009

Jan
27

Like what we always do for the past century, meetups with relatives and gossip, talk, share, gamble.  Its a good occasion for the lost bonds to rekindle and letting go of what had happened the past year, reflect and start planning for this rocky pavement of the upcoming year.  Like what Adeline had written in her blog, this year is gona be really tough for the OXes (yeah I was born in the year of OX) and looking at the prediction of the zodiacs’ life this year, tiger, dragon and dog are on the higher summit (my dad, mum and bro) respectively.  I really hope my family would continue to prosper in their business and ofcoz, stay healthy because without health, wealth is mere.

So I brought my mum and sis out last night to Loyang Tua Pek Gong (like what I did for the past few years).  We visit the temple on wee hours to avoid the unncessary crowd and thick smokes.  What had me amazed this year was that the temple had 6 real cows in the temple, as though it was some ritual but it was really saddening to see the animals get trapped in this small place and gets stared at.  There was 1 cow that looked so angry and helpless when I stared at her nonstop for 5minutes.  I was trying to mesmerise her, thats why. LOL.

With an addition of a family member, Biscuit (my dog), my family seems more bonded than the last time.  We had to leave the dog behind in the house because we don’t want to be tied to her when we’re having our family gathering.  Then, my dad always want to go home early instead of staying at our relative house too long unlike last time, when he could stay there until 1-2am.  Its definitely better now =)  I wanna thank biscuit so much for putting my family together again.  My sis, mum and dad now talks more and goes out more often as well.  For the past year, my family relationship has improved tremendously.

On my side, my true friends seem to have a very big gap with me.. it was accumulative effect; when there is a gap, it only gets bigger instead of smaller.  I was really busy with both my school and personal life.  I had to juggle between my poor academic results and my hall’s commitment for my school.  And for personal committments, I have a new family member (biscuit) that I have to be home some times to play with her and my beloved girlfriend, i’m attached.  But still, on the much brighter side, I have met more people in school, earn more friends and still stay happy like previously before army.  However, I still  really miss those slacking days.

So, if you haven’t start reflecting, start thinking on what you’ve really done to make yourself proud and what are your upcoming plans on the rocky paths this coming year and leave a comment here =).

Last but not least,

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR READERS!

Manage to get my hands to try on my cousin’s Sony A-350 DSLR and GuitarHero: Worldtour.  I kick ass, like totally.  Not actually, I only know how to play guitar and percussions with Medium difficulty.  Well, like what other tubers would say, Practice always makes perfect!
